Age Management Blog
What if you could age without illness — or even feel better as you got older? What could be better than having your doctor tell you that you have the bones of a twenty-year-old, or the heart health of someone half your age?
Many of us have heard and read about women who use bio-identical hormones as a way to naturally relieve menopause symptoms. But as more is known about the benefits of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), it’s clear that it is capable of going far beyond quelling hot flashes and night sweats. Thanks to emerging research, we now know that use of BHRT can prevent a host of health and aging-related problems, including osteoporosis, memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease, breast and uterine cancers, depression, strokes, and heart attacks. And, like the fountain of youth BHRT appears to keep skin looking young and wrinkle-free, too.
Oprah Winfrey admits that entering menopause left her feeling “out of kilter” as she dealt with symptoms that she suspected were hormonal. She visited one a HRT Specialist and, after being told her “hormonal tank was empty”, received a prescription for bio-identical estrogen.
“After one day on bio-identical estrogen, I felt the veil lift,” Winfrey wrote in an O magazine piece that tackled the topic of hormones and women’s health. “After three days, the sky was bluer, my brain was no longer fuzzy, my memory was sharper. I was literally singing and had a skip in my step.”
So, is BHRT right for you? Curiously, as BHRT enters the mainstream health conversation, the message that many are receiving about what BHRT is — and is are not — is confusing and, sometimes, downright wrong. Bio- identical hormones are identical in molecular structure to the hormones we make in our own bodies — they respond and act just like your own hormones. They are not the same as synthetic hormones which continue to be linked to increased risk for cancer.

A Series of Laser Hair Removal Treatments Needed
Laser hair removal is accomplished in a series of sessions scheduled every 6-8 weeks. The average number of treatments to achieve over permanent hair reduction in 80-90 percent of good candidates is about 6 treatments.
In between these monthly treatments some of the hair will re-grow during hair cycle. Hairs that may have been dormant during your previous laser hair removal session may now be in the growth phase. This is where the need for multiple treatment sessions arises. Multiple sessions ensures that all the hairs are subjected to the treatment. These hairs may be shaved by the patient between sessions but NO waxing is allowed while under going laser hair removal.
Some Maintenance Laser Hair Removal may be required annually
Many patients find that maintenance treatments done once or twice a year are ideal for keeping hair at bay after completing the initial treatment sessions.
In a minority of patients who are good candidates hair loss may only be temporary and complete re-growth may occur. The complete re-growth is generally seen in white or blond haired patients.

Melatonin, as most know, is the hormone most associated with sleep and the circadian rhythm. This hormone has displayed various positive benefits on the immune system as well.
As melatonin levels have been found to be low in those women suffering from endometrial cancer, its supplementation was investigated in this application.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
When used together with estrogen therapy in animal models of menopause, melatonin supplementation demonstrated that the hormone significantly decreased endometrial cell proliferation and lower body weight in test animals. This study suggests that melatonin may be a useful compound as a cancer preventative.
Study Effect of Melatonin on Intra-abdominal Fat in Correlation with Endometrial Proliferation in Ovariectomized Rats found “The addition of melatonin to estrogen replacement treatment is associated with a decrease in endometrial proliferation and prevents the appearance of cellular atypia. The presented results suggest that melatonin supplementation may play an important role in the prophylaxis of endometrial cancer in menopause.”

Telomeres are sections of genetic material at the end of each chromosome whose primary function is to prevent chromosomal “fraying” when a cell replicates. As a cell ages, its telomeres become shorter. Eventually, the telomeres become too short to allow cell replication, the cell stops dividing and will ultimately die – a normal biological process. SpectraCell’s Telomere Test can determine the length of a patient’s telomeres in relation to the patient’s age.
This testing does not tell you how long you have to live. Instead it tell you how well you are aging on the inside. If you know how you are aging, you can make some lifestyle adjustments, if needed before it’s too late, to affect your overall health.
Your genes are set but you have an affect on them with your lifestyle choices.
